The Law of Attraction is an incredibly popular theory ever since the publication of Rhonda Byrne’s The Secret and the movie by the same title (2006). The book remained at the top of The New York Times Bestseller List for 146 consecutive weeks, with tens of millions of copies in print in dozens of languages.
Yet, it seems that Byrne has just repackaged an idea that has ancient roots.
The Law of Attraction can be most directly traced to prosperity writers like Napoleon Hill (Think and Grow Rich, 1937), Wallace D. Wattles (The Science of Getting Rich, 1903), and Louise L. Hay (You Can Heal Your Life, 1984).
Albert Einstein explained the Law of Attraction the best: “Everything is energy and that’s all there is to it. Match the frequency of the energy you want and you cannot help but get that reality. It can be no other way. This is not philosophy. This is physics.”
This means that we can manifest from our thoughts, both, positive and negative, so we can transform our reality with the way we feel and think.
This is another perspective that goes hand-in-hand with the Law of Attraction, the Art of Letting Go.
It is the first sign that you trust that you will get what you desire and you deserve it.
Imagine that you are a human transmission tower, like a radio tower. Just like it, people emit waves of energy, or vibrations, that transcend from the mind into the body and beyond.
When you tune a radio receiver to a certain station, or frequency, you pick up the station emitting the same frequency. Similarly, if we tune into a certain frequency, we will “receive” that which matches the frequency.
And, of course, the frequency we “tune into” is determined by our thoughts and emotions.
LOA believers maintain that we are responsible for the things happening to us, as we send the vibration out to the Universe, and we tune into possibilities in our life that matched our vibration.
This lesson by Abraham Hicks explains the entire concept:
Take an ordinary pencil in your hand, and imagine it contains a very painful memory, like a divorce or abuse. You know it has distorted your life since it happened and you want to forget it, but you can’t seem to “let it go”.
Now, look at the hand wrapped around this pencil. Try to let the pencil go, and you will notice that the hand will keep holding it, and what’s more, it will look like it does not obey your instructions. ]
Therefore, letting go is the secret to freeing you from pain, releasing all negativity, and turning towards something better. Yet, it hurts to let go since you have invested time and efforts into it.
But when we let go, we allow a change in, which is not easy for the brain, which enjoys comfort and familiarity.
Recite the following three affirmations daily to easily “let go” and allow more of what you desire:
- I release and let go of doubt and worry that I can attract more abundance into my life. As I release this doubt of attracting abundance and as I release this worry, abundance is rushing toward me now.
- I release and let go of my need to control other people or events. My need to control controls me so I choose now to let it go and surrender to new experiences. I release and let go of my need to control family, friends, partners and business associates and now accept every encounter as a valid lesson.
- I release the energy of relationships that felt bad, one-sided, abusive, controlling, demeaning, demanding and humiliating. The energy of these relationships has done as much damage as I am allowing. In releasing this energy, I allow for space where new relationships can come in with new energy.
Therefore, letting go is something we should all strive to achieve, even though it can be hard, like holding the pencil, but the faster we release, the sooner we will improve our life.
